Approcci evolutivi all'analisi dei prodotti e dei sistemi tecnici
Event
«This work examines the context and cultural paradigm in which general systemic theories of evolution are situated, taking a first step toward reconstructing a truly evolutionary order of products and technical systems. (...) Significant themes of technological change: the generation of artificial variety, the genealogies of artificial products, the continuity and discontinuity of technological change, and the relationship with the environment.».

Appliances in the History of Artifacts
Event
«Structured around thematic cores rather than chronological divisions, the discussion starts with a theoretical chapter outlining the framework within which the debate on artifacts has unfolded in the last two centuries. Subsequent sections examine the history of household appliance typologies, closely related to technological innovation and the contributions of industrial design».

Tomás Maldonado is Coordinator of the PhD in Industrial Design
Event
«For Maldonado, design was an ontological constant of modernity, an indispensable attitude, of which 'The Design Hope' is a clear and extraordinarily relevant manifesto for the non-resigned approach to the 'problem of all problems'».

1998-2000: The PhD program as an activator of research areas
The PhD program serves as a catalyst for the activation and development of innovative research areas. This academic path acts as a stimulus for the emergence of new directions of study and advanced methodological approaches.
The PhD program serves as a catalyst for the activation and development of innovative research areas. This academic path acts as a stimulus for the emergence of new directions of study and advanced methodological approaches.
The PhD program consolidates itself as a privileged context for the exploration and in-depth study of new research topics. Some themes quickly activate recognizable pathways through the succession of increasingly specialized theses. Other themes will see their development in subsequent theses.
These theses provide a snapshot of the approach of the Milanese school to emerging design topics

«Design research is the articulation of skills, abilities, sensitivities, and tools used by researcher-designers to be able to confront the complexity and speed of problem transformation and then translate design experiences into new knowledge. Within this framework of reference and methodological reflection on design research, the research field chosen by the author is aerospace, perhaps the most complex and innovative on the international scene, rich in potential and design opportunities that make it of great interest to the scientific community of industrial design».
