A series of volumes that, through a reflection on the historical memory and cultural roots of the Politecnico di Milano’s "Design System," seeks to sustain the forward-looking perspective characteristic of polytechnic design culture, with the aim of leveraging design to address today’s cultural, social, technological, and environmental challenges.

Open Call

The call for curatorial contributions to the Design Philology platform is currently closed.

This call aims to support the annual publication of digital exhibitions in the form of hypertextual Narratives, accompanied by critical Essays. The essays will be compiled into a digital book/catalog within the Franco Angeli International series, available in open-access format and subject to a double-blind peer review process.

Issue Zero. Design at Politecnico di Milano: the beginning of a story

This volume inaugurates the editorial project Design Philology. The first section explores the opportunities presented by the "digital humanities" to enhance the history of design at the Politecnico di Milano, along with its traces and testimonies, realized in Design Philology and launched in 2023. The second section provides an initial collection of historical-critical reconstructions of the events that led to the establishment of a Design System at Politecnico di Milano.
